July 2023 was a difficult time for me. Originally, this was supposed to go up soon after the AX convention, but I missed the opportunity to do so at the time.
Community panels are typically things like awards, social events, and other community-building events/panels that occur at a convention (like, for example, a town hall meeting, a bag-lunch luncheon, or discussions of the local community’s connection to Japan/topic). These can be very fun for academics interested in the local area, or locals themselves. I was focused more on enjoying the convention itself since two of my friends joined me and I was dealing with personal things at home, but I think it is important to highlight at least one community aspects at an event like AX:
