Mairimashita! Iruma-kun: Enjoying the Journey

If you are even remotely a fan or have read/watched any of Mairimashita! Iruma-kun, you can probably guess that this is the story of how Iruma, the main character, eventually becomes the Demon King. And he will, eventually, do so. Just like how Luffy and crew will, eventually, get the One Piece.

I theorize that his adoptive grandfather knows Iruma-kun is Demon King material despite his very caring nature and purposefully picked Iruma out knowing he’d become the king (with the right magical help, of course). However, this post isn’t really about that theory.

This year, I found myself experiencing some of the most difficult moments I’ve had in my life so far. I found myself turning to anime once again, like I did in high school, to escape the harder days with a bit of entertainment. Around November, I found myself consuming the available episodes of Mairimashita! Iruma-kun on Crunchyroll in binge-mode. I have been reading the manga for some time and thought the comedy might lift my spirits, which it did in the moment as it kept my mind off of the transpiring events around me. BUT IT ALSO inspired this post about the new year.

This anime, like others, isn’t necessarily about the end. It’s about the journey there. The friends you make and lose along the way, the wins, the loses, the good and the bad. Despite the last few years being utter shiz at points, there was good too and there will be more good in the year ahead even if there is bad stuff happening along the way.

So, what I mean to say in my philosophical moment over the comedy gold that is Mairimashita! Iruma-kun is… Happy New Year! And, remember, that this is just a long journey to our final destination so take some time and enjoy it!

Happy Holidays.

Sincerely,

Peggy from @theanimeview + @peggyseditorial
