Video games can be stressful, especially when you’re looking for a more casual experience. In a sea of First-Person Shooters and games catering more towards competitive PVP, it feels like your options are far and few between. Of course there’s the popular suggestions of Stardew Valley and Animal Crossing—and they are wonderful games—but what if you want something different? Well, look no further!
This was the most pleasant game showcase I have experienced in a long time. I never felt like they spent too much time on a game that didn’t need it, the pacing was very smooth and enjoyable; the games themselves were eye-catching and entertaining from the snippets that they showed; and with the announcement of over 70 different indie games, there was a good variety of wholesome titles! I was very impressed with all of the different styles and genres that were presented. Gone are the days where pixel art flooded the market of indie games, now there’s a healthy mix of 3 Dimensional art styles as well! I also saw an interesting trend of games with 2D characters running around a 3D world, they were quite beautiful and reminiscent of PaRappa The Rapper or Paper Mario. It’s exciting to see the multitude of directions that indie developers are now capable of taking with their games.
