This video from Insider came out two years ago but still stands as a great, brief summarization of LGBTQ+ representation in (predominantly) US animation. I’d like to recommend this watch to anyone vaguely interested in the topic of representation and its role in media today.
It is a short watch, totaling about 12 minutes, and helps to define major landmark works in the push towards inclusivity and diversity of characters in animation. The associated article of the same name for this video is a similarly short read detailing the different works and steps that have led to what we are seeing more and more of now.
