It is my pleasure to introduce you all to a new member of our team, Kathy! I met Kathy recently at AX 2023, and am excited to have her join us as a Copy Editor—a new role on our growing team and a great addition as we are in the midst of a massive editing overhaul.

Kathy comes to us with an impressive background and a keen eye for detail. Her passion for language and communication is evident in our conversations, and we have no doubt that she will bring a fresh perspective and valuable insights to our blog as we continue to examine animation and comic mediums. 

As we strive for excellence and improvement at TAV, Kathy’s expertise will be instrumental to ensuring that our content reaches new heights of clarity and precision. Her strong, collaborative spirit will undoubtedly make her a wonderful addition to our team. Welcome to the team, Kathy! 

With that, I’ll let her introduce herself more: 

Hello, everyone! My name is Kathy, I am a Filipino-American from Upper Michigan, and I live in Southern California. I’m very excited to be on board as a Copy Editor for The Anime View!

Back in the day, I spent a gap year as a high school exchange student in South Korea, which instilled in me a particular fondness for Korean entertainment media. I am also a prolific fanfiction writer on AO3 under a certain pseudonym that will not be named here….

Today I work part-time as a registered nurse, I train in martial arts (Filipino Martial Arts and Hawaiian Lua), and I am seeking a second degree at my local community college where I major in Art and Japanese. My goal as an artist is to bring characters and stories to the world that I wished I had when I was a lonely teenager in dire need of more diverse representation in the media. Lastly, I hope to go to Japan to keep studying Japanese after I finish my language classes here. I’d love to share my manga/anime exploits in Japan with you in the future!
