The Anime View: Hello, 2025!

Good morning, afternoon, or evening (depending on when you’re reading this), everyone!

It’s that time of year again—the time we come together to write a post outlining all our ambitious goals (only a few of which I think are actually achieved in the way we planned) before diving back into return to work preparations.

Peggy’s Goals:

For me, Peggy, the goals looks like me drafting as many outlines for posts as I can because (again) I forgot to prepare January’s content in advance and almost forgot the New Year’s post (this post) like I did last year… Sorry y’all. This year, I’ve decided to set more realistic goals as a result of nearly burning out this fall. First and foremost, I aim to maintain a weekly post schedule, preferably on Saturdays at 10 AM, as I’ve been doing consistently for some time now.

Second, I want to focus on keeping the “Editor’s Presentations” post pinned to our blog’s main page accurately updated with completed conventions and presentations that I’ve been doing. In December, I realized I had fallen behind on this, which isn’t fair to those who attend my panels and expect follow through. As a strong advocate for Open Educational Resources and accessibility, I want to ensure this content remains available and updated.

Finally, I want to be better at checking-in and following-up with team members here at The Anime View. We’ve all had a pretty hectic time this year, and it is likely to be even more hectic next year. While I had my own reasons this year, I think there were times I had the time but didn’t put in the effort when I should have. Moreover, we may have another member joining the team soon so, I think, getting better at managing will be a focus of mine.

With that said, I want to thank you all for sticking with us while we continue to grow. I sincerely appreciate you all for your patience thus far and your continued readership. Happy New Year!

Now, I’ll let the others take it from here!

Sincerely,

Peggy Wood

Krow’s Goals:

As for myself, I don’t care for resolutions exactly since I am consistently inconsistent. However, I do have goals from the previous year I would like to carry over into 2025. For example, my goal for The Anime View was to post at least 4 times in the year and I managed to kick out 6 total! I want to retain that same goal of 4 so there won’t be too much pressure put on myself.

On the note of more personal goals, as someone with Dissociative Identity Disorder, I would like to continue my work in bettering communication between alters. We’ve come a long way so far but we could always improve! Another personal goal is to cook more, I’ve recently gotten back into cooking and I would love to get really comfortable with it. The idea is to cook a roster of recipes enough to be able to make them all by heart.

I hope we can all achieve our goals this year! However, if you don’t have any goals, that’s okay too. I wish you a year of good health and comfort.

With all due respect,

Krow

Kathy’s Goals:

My goals for this year are mainly to return to copy editing more regularly, since I have been on a hiatus for some months now. Thankfully, my work situation and personal life have been improving a lot recently, so I want to make it a point to get back into helping out at The Anime View. I want to be a team member that our regular contributing writers can rely on again to copy edit before their posts are published (not after!).

Lastly, I’m not sure how much post-writing I can do this coming year, so I’m hesitant to commit to anything in that regard. However, I do still attend local anime conventions and anime/manga-related events in Southern California, and I have attended a few events in the past year (e.g. a museum exhibition, anime movie screenings in theaters) that you may be interested in reading about in retrospective posts. All I can say is that in addition to my ongoing duties as a copy editor, I’ll do my best to contribute more content of interest to our TAV community.

Happy New Year,

Kathy

Jenna’s Goals:

Hi guys, it’s been awhile! This year I am planning to return to TAV. I really want to dedicate more time to content creation. I’m also planning to return to writing, which is something I haven’t done in a long time. There’s an app called Call of Writing that encourages you to write a little something different every day. It helps break out of the same mindset and avoid getting stuck in a creative rut. I’m excited to use it more consistently. I’m also trying to read more—just a few pages each morning or evening—so I feel like I’m making progress in an area that interests me.

Another goal I have is to create at least one YouTube video within the next month or two, even if it’s not perfect. I want to focus on the practice and process rather than perfection. Alongside that, I’m exploring Twitch streaming. Although I don’t see myself as a typical streaming personality, I’ve developed a real curiosity about broadcasting, editing, and integrating devices. It’s been fascinating to learn as I go and I think streaming could be fun!

I also plan to start working through my Adobe Classroom books to build some new skills. I might even document my progress and turn it into a video, but the main focus this year for me is to practice creating and learning.

On a personal level, I’m making an effort to spend more time with family and strengthen my emotional connections. This is an area I know I need to improve. I’ve been visiting nearby family more often and am planning to save up to visit my brother this spring.

Finally, I’m diving into film history to fill some gaps in my knowledge. I’ve been watching directors’ filmographies in chronological order. I’m finishing Quentin Tarantino now, and hope to start with Martin Scorsese next.

Thanks for reading and glad to be back!

– Jenna
