[Chatting] Detective Conan: Takagi and Satou Are Engaged. A Case Closed, If You Ask Me

If you’re still watching Detective Conan, chances are you’re a fan shipping Wataru Takagi and Miwako Satou together, two detectives of the Tokyo Metropolitan Police Department. Recently, Krow and I have been binging some older episodes of the show and when watching Episode 487, I became convinced that these two are engaged.

Now, according to the internet, they aren’t officially engaged. However, after watching this episode, I don’t see how they aren’t.

The proposal goes as follows:

Satou explains that the ring she’s been wearing was a gift from a friend to ward off bad luck and “bugs” (unwelcome attention from guys).

Takagi then proposes, “I-In that case, Satou-san, please wear my ring!” She blushes and responds, “OK, that’s fine.”

Following this, her male co-workers hear that the ring is a good-luck charm and that it’s so cute that she doesn’t know the meaning behind wearing a ring on the ring finger.

Let’s get real for a second. SHE ABSOLUTELY KNOWS THE MEANING! Satou is a detective. She’s surrounded by married colleagues and victims daily, many of whom wear wedding rings on—you guessed it—their ring fingers. There is absolutely no way she doesn’t know the symbolism.

So why act clueless? My theory: this was all a ploy to get her long-term boyfriend to propose and it worked!

The only reason she’s not making that clear to the office is, I believe, to save him the embarrassment of that proposal.

THEY ARE ENGAGED NOW. I will not be taking questions or criticism at this time. Only agreements, please. 😊 (Joking – what are your thoughts fellow fans? Engaged or not?)

Thank you for reading!
