Anime Expo kicks off this coming weekend, and honestly? It feels nearly impossible to narrow down on what to focus on and when.
So much has happened this past week in the world of anime, manga, and fandom that I’ve been completely overwhelmed trying to figure out what to cover—and how to adjust the blog post schedule to include it all in a timely, organized way.
As I write this now in the early hours of Sunday, June 29th, I originally sat down late afternoon Saturday to plan my AX coverage from afar. I prepared a handful of people I planned to watch livestreams from, as well as AX’s channel, and had put together a long recap of everything that got me excited last week to post this Saturday, and with a longer post for next Saturday on AX. However, every attempt to write the first long post turned into a chaotic, rambling mess of tangents—not exactly helpful.
Also, realistically, what could I say about AX that won’t already be covered in detailed recaps and breakdowns by others who are actually able to attend this year?
Moreover, it’s FACULTY BREAK (starting Tuesday)—and for once, I actually have a bit of breathing room to relax. So I thought: why not take advantage of it and really enjoy diving into all the things I love (especially since I, sadly, won’t be attending AX in person this year)?
So here’s the compromise I’ve made with myself:
1) No post this Saturday and no specific AX post unless there is something I really want to discuss since I rather not obsessively track livestreams.
2) Instead of writing one massive info-dump about all the things I got hyped for last week, I’m going to spread things out a bit. Every weekday this week (Monday through Friday), I’ll post a short blog entry highlighting something from the last week that caught my attention—a cool announcement, a fun reading, or something I watched that’s worth sharing. These posts will be quick reads with a little context, a few thoughts, and (hopefully) some solid links if you want to explore more.
The goal is to stay grounded, get caught up, and enjoy the chaos at a reasonable pace—before work picks up again next Monday.
Thanks for reading, and I hope you enjoy what’s coming this week!
