The Fall 2025 anime season is upon us and here are the titles I’m most interested in so far:
Ranma ½ (2024) – Season 2
The gender-bending martial arts comedy returns after a lively first season, and I couldn’t be more excited! The reboot captured the charm of the classic ’90s anime so well that I’m already totally in love and looking forward to the next round of Ranma and Akane’s adventures coming this Fall!
Spy x Family – Season 3
Everyone’s favorite found family of spies, assassins, mind readers, and psychics is back for more Stella Stars in this third season! I’m curious to see how the Forgers’ relationship will keep evolving as the stakes rise once again. I also wonder when this series will be making its big Mr. & Mrs. Smith reveal….
Kono Hon wo Nusumu Mono wa / Whoever Steals This Book
A literary fantasy about tracking down stolen, possibly magical books with supernatural assistance? Yes, please! I’m excited to see how the series will weave its love of literature into a mystery-driven plot. Considering that the main character “hates” books according to the description, I am hoping this will be a “fall in love with literature” kind of series to enjoy this season. I am very excited to see what happens!
Cengjing You Yongshi / So You’re Raising a Warrior
This fantasy drama follows a reluctant dragon guardian raising a destined hero along with a few other adopted family members. Having sampled some of the comic, I feel like this will be a pretty cute, heartwarming comedy about found family and I am looking forward to it.
Yonghansonyeo / Dragon Girl
MAL didn’t have anything on this series at the time of me writing this. However, from what I understand based on some cursory research through Google, Kim Yong-man is the daughter of the dragon king who fled from the dragon palace under the sea to present-day Earth to avoid an arranged marriage where she searches for love on her own. The art looks really nice. I like the softer color palettes and the music I’ve heard so far, so I plan to watch this series this fall and recommend it as well.
Mofa Gongzhu de Xiao Fannao / The Fated Magical Princess: Who Made Me a Princess
I was initially excited for this adaptation, and I still plan to watch, but it’s no longer on my personal “most anticipated” list. Check out my first-impressions post regarding why: https://theanimeview.com/2025/10/01/first-impressions-who-made-me-a-princess-anime-adaptation-spoilers/
Heika Watashi wo Wasurete Kudasai
A dramatic romance about a noblewoman whose political marriage to a cursed duke takes some unexpected turns. At first glance, the setup feels familiar: two nobles are wed for duty, the husband pushes the bride away, she leaves—only to discover she’s pregnant. Years later, they cross paths again, love rekindles, and he steps into his role as a father. While the premise sounds dark—and parts of it likely will be—the heart of the story seems to be about family, reconciliation, and finding love and forgiveness after years apart so I think it will be a pretty good watch!
Tensei Akujo no Kuro Rekishi / The Dark History of the Reincarnated Villainess
Last, but not least, and currently at the top of my watch list, is this one! I have been reading this one for a while and I love it! The manga is a self-aware comedy about a woman reborn inside the over-the-top fantasy novel she wrote as a teen, only she’s stuck as the infamous evil twin sister of her self-insert main character and it’s cringy and brutal. Very meta humor, lots of drama, and plenty of self-reflective moments in the best way about that one fiction you probably wrote as a tween (myself included).
