Hello, Everyone! This is your scheduled reminder that today, May 6th, is FREE COMIC BOOK DAY (FCBD)! For those of you that are new to the comic “holiday,” FCBD is an annual event that takes place on the first Saturday in May. It was first held in the early 2000s as a way to celebrate and promote comic books and the comic book industry. The event also carries the intent to encourage audienes to discover and enjoy new and recurring titles that they may not have initially spent money on to sample, while also having the benefit of supporting local comic book shops who gain an influx of visitors during the event (visitors that may become continued consumers).

During FCBD, participating comic book shops across the United States offer a selection of comic books for free to anyone who visits their store and you can use the FCBD’s official to see exactly what titles are being offered and which of your local stores are participating. The event itself has grown in popularity a lot over the last few years, and we at The Anime View always like to remind people about it since it is a fun way to engage with your local fandom community.

The titles offered during FCBD are usually special editions created specifically for the event and feature a variety of both lesser-known works and popular comic books like the Avengers, SPIDER-MAN, and Umbrella Academy.

So get ready to pick up some free copies and happy reading, everyone!
